Sad News

My Auntie Wilma (my dad#s sister) died on Saturday 18th April. She would have been 69 in August.

Nadia Accepted to GSA

This is Nadia Ruth Gabriel. She is my brother Barry's daughter.

She is very very happy and we are very very proud that she has been accepted to Glasgow School of Art on a 4 year degree course (Environmental Art and Sculpture)

William McCann

This is William McCann (1880 to 1914)
He is my Great Grandfather. He was born in Balbriggan, Co Dublin and moved to Glencarse, near Perth in Scotland, to be a telegraph engineer.
He was killed on 17th October 1914, in the French/Belgium Border

This is Jane Band McCann (Don) with her 2 children, David and Jean, taken around 1916

Robina Henderson Adams Band (1853 - 1922)

This is Robina, my Great Great Granny. She married David Band from Collace, in 1872.
She is mother of Jane Band McCann Don (my Great Granny)
I can certainly see the 'McCann' features in her face. Both my Dad and Grandad look very like her. What do you think?

Things slowing down a bit, hard to find info on ScotlandsPeople website as they only have records to certain dates, but I have been finding a bit more info on Jane Band McCann Don (My Great Granny)
I have posted more of the family found on the tree site, so please feel free to check it out, and any info, pictures, etc would be gratefully received.

Patricks Grandchildren

This is Brian, (mum Jean), Alistair and Margaret McCann.
They are Eddie and Jeans children - Eddie was Patrick McCann's son. (Hope you are keeping up!)
So, they are my dads 2nd cousins (and Joe Curtis' 2nd cousins also)
It has been great hearing from you all.. Keep watching this space for more pics.

Jean Brennan

This is Eddie McCann, Jean Brennan (nee McCann), Agnes Don, David Don and the little boy we think is John Brennan.

Jean Brennan was William McCann and Jane Band's daughter. She was born in 1915, after her father was killed in WW1.
He full name was Jean Willamina Kerwin McCann. Kerwin was the name that William (&Patrick) used as their mothers maiden name - on their marriage certificates. Her name was Jane Carvin - Kerwin is thought to be the 'Irish' spelling of Carvin

James Street

The solidier kneeling is my Grandad - James Street. He was born in 1921 and was killed in Burma in May 1944.
He was in the Camerionians and was in the Chindit campaign. 

Max and Lisa McCann

This is my nephew, Maxwell David McCann (born April 29th 2004) with his mum, Lisa (nee Sansom). His dad is my brother Barry.
This is him on a day out to see Thomas the Tank Engine , at Bo'ness near Edinburgh. 

The 4 Generations

This is 4 generations of my Mums family.
The baby is James Street (1921 - 1944), my mums Dad.
The lady in the middle is his mother, Margaret Barr Telford Dalgleish (1900 - 1965). To the left is her mother Janet Fowler Peacock Bingham (1875 - 1960) and finally, holding James, is Janet's mother, Margaret Telford (1846 - 1927)

It is though that Margaret is related to Thomas Telford, the engineer.

Ardgillan Castle

This is Argillan Castle, near Balbriggan.
Thanks to some research by Joe Curtis, it seems that Jane McCann (Carvin) lived on the estate, as her father was the gardener for the house.

The cottage shown is the gardeners house, so this is where Jane lived with her parents before marrying Edward.

It is also quite interesting to note that Jane was born in Whitechapel, Middlesex and both her brothers (William & Charles) were born in London. It is also is possible that she named two of her sons after her brothers.



 

The McCann grave Ireland

This is the stone marking the burial plot of some of the McCann family.
Charles McCann, his wife Ellen, their son Edward (who died at 6 weeks), Jane (Carvin) & Edward McCann, Thomas and Bernie.
It also refers to William, who died in WW1, and is buried in the military cemetery at Plogestreet, Belgium

Bernie, Dave Don and Granny Don

This is Bernie McCann, daughter of Charles McCann. SHe is pictured with Dave & Jane Don. Jane was first married to William McCann, so she is my Great Granny.
Jane was born 19th Nov 1891 in Collace, between Perth and Blairgowrie. She was one of 12 children born to David Band and Robina Henderson Ireland Adams.
Her sister, Betsy, married John Stephen and her sons started A J Stephen and sons, builders 

Margaret McCann

This is Margaret McCann. Daughter of Edward & Jane, sister to William, Thomas, Patrick, etc.
She was born in 1882 and died in 1951. 

Edward McCann of Balbriggan

Thus is Edward McCann. Born 1850, died 1933.
He is my Great Great Grandad

The McCanns of Leetown

This is my grandad (David Band McCann) and granny (Elizabeth Gilmour Cook), with their 4 children (left to right, David, Sandy, Willma, Ann) with Bernadette McCann (in the centre). Bernie was the daughter for Charles McCann and Ellen Duffy.
This picture was taken in 1953, just before their 5th child, Barry, was born.
